Description

Click here to play an HTML5 demonstration of this project

A "Circle the Dot" type engine. The engine itself straightforward, but includes use of arrays, and a more difficult path finding system. The path finding is coded from scratch, it does not use GameMaker's build in functions (as this is a hexagonal grid which will not work with the built in functions). Using the project as is will suit a beginner skill level. To understand the pathfinding, a medium to advanced skill level is required (though it can be used as is). There is clean and well commented code, explaining how each part of the engine works. The engine is cross-platform compatible.

a good clone

after a few taps I had this: (FIXED)
############################################################################################
FATAL ERROR in
action number 1
of Mouse Event for Left Pressed
for object tileObj:

Unable to find any instance for object index '1'
at gml_Script_moveDot (line 17) - dotObj.target = stepId; //Move to next tile
############################################################################################
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
stack frame is
gml_Script_moveDot (line 17)
called from - gml_Object_tileObj_LeftButtonPressed_1 (line 10) - moveDot(); //action pathfinding scripts

FIXED script moveDot:
if !instance_exists(dotObj)
{
dotObj.target = stepId; //Move to next tile
exit; //Don't continue with this script, as we have our answer

I apologise for such a simple and obvious mistake! This has now been updated in the package, I appreciate you taking the time to post your fix to help others.
