This Extension enables using a pen tablet, useful for paint-type applications and games. You can retrieve the absolute X/Y coordinates of the pen in relation to the tablet surface, the pressure and if the user is currently using the eraser tip.
The user needs to have the pen tablet driver installed for the Extension to work correctly. Your game will still work correctly if the driver is not installed, just pen tablet support will not be available
The Extension is primarily for Windows but does work in HTML5 for some browsers.
HTML5 does not have a standard API for pen tablets yet. The JS functions work through the Wacom browser plugin that gets installed when you install the pen tablet driver.
As such only Internet Explorer and Firefox are supported. Opera and Chrome are not currently supported as they blocked NPAPI plugins from initializing automatically.
In Firefox, the user needs to accept a notification first before he/she can use the pen tablet. Also enabling WebGL for Firefox helps with performance.
Tested with Wacom Bamboo, Wacom Intuos Pro & Huion 1060Plus
You can fix any pen tablet issues on Windows (for all apps that use pen tablets) by running this useful app after you have installed your driver
(GMS 1.4 users, please download the GMS2 package and find the "exDeviceTabletForGMS1.zip" in the Extensions subfolder, find and replace the exDeviceTablet.dll in your GMS 1.4 project and it should work out of the box.)
Fix: No need to click away and re-focus the window, with some tablets, for the driver to activate anymore. Fix: Now reporting the X/Y coordinates of the pen correctly Fix: Working correctly with multi-monitor setups
