HTML5 problems

GameMaker 1.4 (V1772) -> HTML5, Burst and Stream function not work.
No problem under V1757 and V1763.

Great software

It is easy to use and so pleasant to see the preview of the effect what you are currently working on.
It comes with a few good examples to get you started and to give you an idea what are the possibilities with it.

I had a problem first when using the macOS version, but developer answered fast with a link to guide how to fix the problem that is caused by Marketplace. But after that, I have had a great time with this. I'm glad I did find this!

Before you buy...

The editor is cool, but Mac's editor is broken: http://i.imgur.com/3iRMv8s.png.
There's no manual for implementing the scripts on the GMS. You have to figure it out.

Geon FX for MacOS has been tested on various versions of MacOS and works fine.

There is a well-commented example coming with the editor. It shows various types of scripts and their usage. Also, please check the tutorial:

Geon FX uses GameMaker's built-in particle system and can export selected effect to GML. Having the particle code of the system you can follow the instructions from the official GameMaker manual. There are plenty of tutorials on how to use particles in GameMaker. Please check them too.

A timesaver

I had som initial problems, but that's all me as I'm relatively new to GM. I can recommend this product if you want to experiment with particles or want en easy way out when using particles in your games.

Pro version

I bought this extension and get only the gm extension,
It is only the gm extension witouth the windows software?
The publisher don't answer me.

Edit: I found the sotware, it is in the game maker extension (included files).

Yes, definitely. I apologize for a long period of silence. Right now I'm busy porting Geon FX to GMS. It took more time than I expected. But this process is necessary to implement most of the upcoming features: pixel-perfect zoom, export to png strip (and GIF in future), JSON export, FPS Real indication, accurate simulation of GMS2 particle system.

Results not as expected

I totally agree with Jacob S. Also I found another bug with part_type_orientation. It behaves different in Geon than in GMS2.
Example: I belive that instead of: "part_type_orientation(global.pt_rain, -1, 1, 0, 0, 0);" it should be exported with decimal values like this: "part_type_orientation(global.pt_rain, -0.1, 0.1, 0, 0, 0);". Just paste Geon generated code from rain example into GMS2.

I've checked part_type_orientation() behaviour on GMS2. It works exactly as in GMS1. Which means that you don't have to export in decimal values.
I've exported Rain example to GMS2 (by choosing GML for GameMaker Studio 2 in the export menu) and it looks exactly the same. If it looks different for you, please, check your FPS counter in the editor. Does it show 60 FPS?
Please, contact me via mail for more details. I believe there might be some incompatibility which I haven't found out yet.

Must be included within GMS2 !

i think this app must be a part of GMS2, it's very essential and saves a lot of time and efforts, many thanks for the developer.
some suggestions and minor bugs:-
* please include the "destroy particle system" and "destroy emitter" code in the exporter.
* Full screen didn't work probably when you press full screen button, I've to maximize the window first (windows 7 46bit).
* changing number with mouse scroll wheel will be nice.
* add some presets for quick start.
* allow using .swf sprites if possible.
* allow exporting as png sequence.
* make some video tutorials

Results not as expected

This particle editor is very cool. It's simple to use, and it works well. However, there are some drawbacks. The particles in the editor appear differently than they do in the game. For example, the gravity amount and additive blending settings work very differently in the game. In the editor, the colors are added correctly but it is still easy to see the vibrant colors of the additive particles. In the game, however, the particles appear completely white, even when displaying on the same custom background as in the editor. Subtle values for the gravity amount work well in the editor, but in the game, they are quite extreme. Overall, it is a good editor to use in finding a starting point for particle effects, but based on my experience, it will require some tweaking of the code later on to get the desired results.

Thanks for your honest review! May I ask you to send the project where you see the difference in particle blending mode? I will examine it and try to fix the issue. The thing is I can't reproduce it now.

The most user friendly particle editor!

So you have troubles wrapping your head around particles and how to create them in GMS. Well look no further! Geon Fx is the best and easiest solution to date (in my opinion). It has a nice layout and everything is pretty easy to understand. plus you can't beat the price even if it's not on sale. I would highly recommend this to GMS users new and old. Keep up the great work NOD Group!

nice, but...

pls add other part_type_ options(ex:part_type_colour_hsv,part_type_colour_mix,part_type_colour_rgb)
and image record while particle bursted. (save as _strip.png).

Great Product, does exactly what it says and it works well.

This is a ideal for saving time or for learning how particle systems work. If you want to make particles in Gamemaker then just buy it.
