Allows you to draw text with an automatic outline. Arguments let you define the standard stuff (x and y coordinates, string) as well as the outline colour, outline thickness, and outline fidelity (accuracy - performance vs looks). Other aspects of the text - alignment, text fill colour etc, are treated as normal.

This is the greatest script ever made.
Hopefully a function like this is added to GMS 2 at some point, because this works great in GMS 1.4!
It's just ONE script, with plenty of notes and a really simple and easy to follow script consisting of about 6 lines of code.
Plus, it's really easy to change it to fit your needs better. Like I changed the "draw_text" line to "draw_text_ext" and added a few extra arguments for that particular line and it works perfectly, it's really awesome.
The notes mention something about performance being affected, specifically by the Fidelity of it, but how much can some text really impact it? Besides, almost everything is going directly into UI related stuff anyway, and the stuff that's constantly on screen won't be all that much anyway. (Although that is just my game, your's might be different.)
I highly recommend this and that you play around with it, it is truly incredible. (Also add that EXT line, that's kinda important for longer strings of text)
Simple and effective
Makes what can be a complicated issue really simple. The performance hit when using the highest fidelity is large, but it is a small price to pay for simplicity.

Iv'e made my own versions before, but nothing compared to this one, allowing you to change quality, and thickness from the script call, it's excellent.

Can be pretty performance-hitting if you over-use it, since it effectively just draws your text a bunch. But it does what it says, and is easy to expand in case you want to do something like draw_text_outline_transformed

Just what I was looking for, but how would you go about adding an image_alpha argument to the script?

Got this up and running in a few minutes. Great tool for GMS! NAL does it again...
It's simple to use, and is exactly what everyone needs for pretty much everything. It looks good and runs cleanly without affecting performance.
I used to design UI text in Photoshop or Illustrator and then export as images to preserve the stroke outlines. Finally, finally, finally, I can program the text right into my games because of this.
Well though out, works nicely, looks even nicer.
