Build with and for GMS 1.4. April 2nd 2016 MAJOR UPDATE

Engine has been re-written.

Inventory DB works with a database that is a simple TXT file or a CSV file. CSV, build from an Excel table, are really awesome to get your items properties organized. Each row is an item and each column a property(like name, sprite, maximum stack, etc...).

Upon start, a ds_grid is builded from that file and you use that grid as a reference every time you need an information on an item.

New: One object to rule them all! A single object controls as many containers you add: belts, chests, crates, backpacks, storage room, etc...

Inventory DB has many features to help players keeping their items organized:

  • Dynamically creates containers if needed.
  • Toggle containers on and off.
  • Display properties of selected items.
  • Move/swap items and sort them.
  • Drop, use or split stack of items.
  • Move containers around if needed.
  • Resize it in game.
  • Works with views.
  • Auto-stacking items.

Poweful and very versatil.

As always, everything is well commented and you'll get a fast reply if you need help to implement it on your game.

-Tested for windows, YYC tested.

Inventory DB can't be imported in GMS2 easily. Changing SIngle quote by double quotes fixed the problem.

Fantastic Inventory System

If you're looking for an inventory system with an easy to manage database, scalability and drag n drop functionality, this is what you are looking for. The system is easy to work with and integrate into your game, while the database itself is an external file. Adding extra items is simple, all you need to do is add a new entry and provide a sprite.

Code is well commented, object names and script names all make logical sense. It's straight forward to find the places you want to edit.

The developer has been very helpful with any questions. He responds quickly with practical solutions to any issues you are facing. I highly recommend this asset.

This is simply THE best inventory engine around.

I've tried all of the inventory engines both here on the market place and around the gamemaker community in general, and this is by far the most flexible and powerful one I've ever found. I've seen inventory engines that certainly "look" very good, but looks don't always mean everything, and this particular engine doesn't need to try and "look" like the best, it just simply is.

Everything is incredibly well commented and relatively easy to understand. So far, I've had no problem figuring it out, with really only one exception, which the creator was very quick to help me resolve. I couldn't be happier with it.
